Pints of View- Sunday 28th September, 7.30-9pm @ The Merry Hill Pub

Can A Trip To The Pub Restore Justice To The Streets Of Wolverhampton?

Who knows, but it will certainly make you feel better trying! Whether it’s the issue of people not feeling safe on the streets, or “ASBO culture”, or confusion over punishments the issue of how we as a culture deal with crime, its causes and effects, is never far from the news.

But opportunities to discuss this beyond immediate friends and families are rare. This is where Pints of View nights come in. It’s your chance to talk about what is on your mind all from the comfort of the pub.

The event takes a “Question Time” format with members of the audience asking the panel of experts questions followed by a discussion from the floor. If you have a question or a viewpoint on how we could approach the issue of crime better this is the ideal event to air them.

Hosted by St Joseph’s Church, with panellists reflecting on their personal experiences working as a Magistrate in the city or patrolling the streets of the Black Country for the Police. Chaired by Phil Cansdale, Resident Minister of St Joseph’s Pints of View is a topical discussion event.

Phil Cansdale explains, “Everyone has questions and opinions about the big issues of the day and crime and its aftermath is definitely one of the biggest issues we face as a community. But outside of talking to your immediate friends and family, how often do people get the opportunity to express them in public? What we are wanting to create is a sociable and welcoming atmosphere for people to come and ask those very questions.”

“We hope that those attending have a great evening in the pub but also feel free to ask those questions they have been itching to ask, have their voice heard in the discussion, or have an interesting night listening to the opinions being discussed. All are very welcome”.

The event runs from 7.30-9pm on Sunday 28th September at the Merry Hill pub in Trysull Road, Wolverhampton.
